Cape Verde is a group of islands 450 kms west of Senegal, West Africa in the Atlantic Ocean. Officially known as The Republic of Cape Verde covering 4030 sq kms; there are 9 islands divided into two distinct categories. The 6 western islands are characterized by mountainous landscapes, whilst the remaining three are most notable for their long sandy beaches.
